Interfaces in detail.
Connect data with clear controls.
From a specific bottleneck to a maintainable integration: plan data access, validation, error handling, incremental implementation and ongoing support together.
Where is time lost every day?
An order is entered twice. A report is assembled from several exports. Industry software almost fits, except for one crucial step.
We first check what existing products and standards already provide. An interface, a targeted extension or a small tool can make existing investments more useful.
- Source
- Orders from an existing application
- Validation
- Required fields and unambiguous mapping
- Exception
- Return an incomplete record for correction
- Handover
- Send to the target system only after successful validation
Errors remain visible. Ownership and logging are part of the process.
From initial input to a usable result.
The connection must work in daily operations: validate data, make errors visible and establish operational responsibilities.
Three approaches to a suitable connection.
Existing services and a custom interface can both be appropriate. Together, we clarify which solution makes technical and economic sense.
As much development as the task requires.
Interfaces
APIs, databases, web services and controlled imports connect business software, websites and cloud services.
Automation
Run recurring processing, status changes, notifications and reports where they are useful.
Existing software
Analyse applications and internal tools, modernise maintainable components and adapt them to changing workflows.
Extensions
Add the missing function where complete replacement offers no convincing benefit.
Small applications
Develop a focused, maintainable tool for a clearly defined task.
Operations and handover
Consider access, documentation, error handling and maintenance from the start.
First clarify the bottleneck. Then implement with clear controls.
- 01 · UNDERSTANDReview the actual workflowWhere does information originate, which steps are manual and what result is needed?
- 02 · IMPLEMENTTest in small stepsAgree data flow and scope, use suitable standards and validate with business examples.
- 03 · SUPPORTPreserve knowledge and ownershipDocument, hand over and adjust when applications or processes change.
Transfer an order between two applications.
An order is created in a system of record and needs to become available in another application. DAXS clarifies which system owns each item of data and when a transfer counts as successful for the business. This helps prevent a technical connection from silently creating incorrect or duplicate records.
Define the interface
Field mapping, identifiers, permitted values and changes are described using real data structures; suitable sanitised examples are used for testing. Access receives the required scope. Events, scheduled runs or manual approvals follow the workflow.
Handle errors with clear controls
An interruption must not leave an unnoticed gap. Logging, reprocessing and duplicate handling are explicitly planned. When a record is ambiguous from a business perspective, the responsible person receives a clear task instead of the transfer silently continuing.
View planning and acceptance points
- Define the system of record and ownership for each data field.
- Agree identifiers, data formats and required fields.
- Check permissions and protected transfer channels.
- Test normal cases, invalid values and connection interruptions.
- Check retries and handling of records already transferred.
- Acceptance: verify the result in the target system, the log and operating instructions.
Example review framework. Scope and suitable evidence are agreed for your environment.
Questions about development and interfaces.
Does existing software have to be replaced?
Can any systems be connected?
When is a custom application worthwhile?
How are errors and data quality addressed?
Who supports the solution afterwards?
Can DAXS develop existing internal tools further?
Show us the specific bottleneck.
Two systems that should exchange information? A function missing from daily work? A concrete example is enough to get started.
